Bar Camp Delhi: steps to create a startup

Gaurav Bhatnagar ( Tekriti Software )
Bootstrapping: How to bootstrap?
Bootstrap a company without seed money.

His motivation to quit the job without an Idea and the Return to India from the Silicon Valley and other US locations.

Be Practical and other major points that were discussed between Gaurav and the audience:
Don't do it alone: It kills you: Find similar kind of people. 3 is magic number.
Don't do it fresh out of college: Especially a services startup. Credibility. Get a story. It is ok to give work to us.
Find a mentor: Cashflow, Burn-Rate, Bouncing Board to buy into your idea.
Some money in the Bank: Don't run out of money, your own money. Live off your parents, make sure you can pay your cellphone bills.
Find your first client: Startups work with startups, find out who got venture funded right now in your domain area and try to sell yourself to them.
Contribute to Open Source: Make yourself known and create credibility.
Track the blogosphere: Ideas for free. Smart people give out a lot of product/pain ideas for free
Get Lucky
Register with STPI save on taxes in India.
Get an office it helps to hire people.
Hire an office admin. Don't get pissed about small amounts of money spent here and there ( Stop cribbing about not being able to things done in India without buying out a lot of petty government officials )
Build a team: Share a dream. Long term story.
Be patient with freshers.

Bar Camp Delhi Live: How to start a startup

Abhishek Agarwal:- How to start a startup

Between Abhishek and Audience the following things were discussed

Starting with Motivation of starting up:-
The what and why questions.
What and Why I want to do what I want to do ?

What kind of stories do you want to tell your grand children

how do you want to be introduced at a party ?

People with un-realized potential are a cause of startups ?

Abhishek is comparing right now the various things you need to have to startup in Web 2.0 , Product or Service companies.
E.g. the kind of money you need for a dotcom(web2.0) , product or service company.
Guys you need to be here to know what Abhishek is talking about.

Abhishek made a very strong statement about money being an issue for not starting up right now because if you believe in your idea it is always possible to raise money its not as if that anyone actually needs to invest his own money into a startup.
Reasons not to startup

1. Want to gain experience
2. Want a bank balance
3. Career Risk
4. I love my job!! Duh!
5. Passing away the time window of starting for a particular idea.
6. Startup now vs. startup later ( the opportunity cost keeps on rising)
- Job now becomes startup never ...

He is currently debunking them one by one.

Time Window of high economic growth in India might pass away if it is not now.

Idea Arbitrage:- The meta idea of creating a web-startup which is tried and tested in US and replicating the same in India e.g. Ebay and Baazi being an Example.

Expanding this the meta idea , I believe in this " hey lets go and look at all the portfolio companies of what big VCs are funding in the valley right now figure what can be done in India with more longevity and faster than those companies and force them to die or make them buy us out, we can have hundreds of such startups right here in India instead of working for outsourcing companies which make their best and brightest work for the very same valley's early stage funded startups"
